0177. A George 111 antique silver tea caddy
of oblong bellied form, fluted girdle, flush hinged raised cover with fluted decoration and a fluted finial, on four ball feet.
The caddy has a functioning lock and key. Tea was locked away during Georgian times because it was so expensive!
There is a full set of clear hallmarks under the base as in the photo (Leopards head crowned, date letter, duty mark, lion passant and maker's mark). The cover is clearly marked with lion passant, date letter and maker's mark.
This is a lovely caddy in very good condition.
