A silver fruit bowl or comport - William 1V
the gilt washed bowl with alternate ribbed flutes and punch bead flutes to imitate a shell and the scalloped border indicating sea spume. The whole raised on a trumpet foot embellished with over-hanging acanthus leaves to the top and middle sections, supported by a shaped triangular foot with spume decoration and shell and acanthus leaf supports. The base cartouche is formed by large C scrolls and is engraved with a small coat of arms. In all a magnificent piece.
