Born on 6th February 1665, Anne became Queen of England on the 8th March 1702 aged 37. During her reign the Acts of Union were passed and in 1707 united Scotland and England as one sovereign state rather than two separate realms.
None of Queen Anne’s children survived infancy despite 17 pregnancies. Much of the antique silver that has survived from Queen Anne’s reign has the French dramatic and capricious rococo style as can be seen in this fine example of a Queen Anne silver sauce ladle featured on this page.
Collectors of Queen Anne silver will appreciate the scarcity of quality pieces.
