0183. A Victorian silver-mounted glass inkwell

The stylish silver base of lobed circular form, the cut-glass inkwell with a hinged cover, crested on top with a bird of prey.

This inkwell set would make a magnificent statement to anyone's desk and is by two members of the important Fox family. George was the son of Charles Fox, and he became the sole partner in the firm when his father retired in 1860.

The base and the inkwell have a full set of hallmarks as seen in the photos, and the top is also part marked.
